PRODUCT
DESCRIPTION
The Series 6150 Sub-Micron Microbial filter system addresses the concerns
raised by recent reports of cryptosporidium in drinking water. Cryptosporidium
cysts range from 3 - 6 microns in size and are very resistant to common
disinfection methods.
This three stage unit combines a 5 micron sediment cartridge, the Eagle
Spring Dual Media "Eaglyte" cartridge and a unique carbon block/ceramic
cartridge rated by an independent testing agency to be in the sub-micron
( <1 micron) range.
This combination provides a means of removing or reducing cryptosporidium,
giardia lamblia and bacteria as well as chlorine, lead, taste and odor.
The cartridges are easily replaceable. Unit comes with a dedicated drinking
water faucet.
FILTER MEDIA DESCRIPTION
The first stage of
the filtration process consists of a 5 micron pre-filter cartridge manufactured
of polypropylene cord that is wrapped around a polypropylene core.
The second
stage is the Dual Media Cartridge.
The patented redox media "Eaglyte" combines with granular activated
coconut shell carbon providing a long life drinking water system. In the
first section, the Eaglyte media removes or reduces inorganics such as
lead and other heavy metals on the EPA contaminant list, a function which
carbon alone cannot do. The Eaglyte also retards bacteria growth in the
filter. In the second section, volatile organic chemicals such as TTHM's,
chlorine, organic chemicals, bad taste and odors are removed by adsorption
into the bed of coconut shell based carbon.
Finally, Eaglyte filtration systems leave in the healthful minerals found
in natural spring water. The water flow will enter the bottom of the cartridge
and travel the complete length of the carbon bed to achieve the maximum
contact time, and thus maximizing the adsorption.
The third
stage cartridge is a porous ceramic cylinder made of diatomaceous earth
(.4 micron), which prevents the passage of microscopic materials and bacteria.
In addition, a carbon block (1 micron) is included and surrounds the ceramic
media. It is manufactured by preparing powdered carbon in a slurry with
a binder and pressing it into a mold. The finer carbon offers a much greater
surface area for exposure. This increases its ability to reduce contaminants.
It removes or reduces pesticides, insecticides and herbicides. Removes
or reduces chlorine, organic chemicals, bad taste
and odor. This combination is jacketed by a 20 micron outer filter layer.
Cartridge life expectancy is 6 - 12 months. Due to the nature of the filter
(.4 micron) and the condition of the water being treated, no guarantee
is made on the cartridge life. The cartridge should be replaced if chlorine
taste returns or if the pressure drops to below a desirable level. If
using to remove a health related contaminant, a repeat testing program
should be used.
